Enjoy a Four Days Blog in Temagami: A Wilderness Journey
A four-day retreat unfolded in the heart of Northern Ontario at Finlayson Point Provincial Park, located along the quiet, clear shores of Lake Temagami. The campsite, positioned at the very end of the road and bordered by water on three sides, offered complete solitude and a true escape from city noise.
While Toronto faced a heat warning, nights at the park were refreshingly cool, dipping to around 10°C. Campfires became essential, and warm layers added comfort to evenings under the stars.
Day 1: Arrival and Settling In
The journey began with a scenic drive into Temagami, followed by a smooth check-in at Finlayson Point. The campsite, surrounded by water and tall pines, immediately set the tone for a peaceful stay. Gear was unpacked, tents were pitched, and the evening ended with a quiet lakeside dinner and the first crackling campfire under a starlit sky.
Day 2: Northern Encounters and Forest Roads
The day began with a drive north to Earlton, home to the well-known roadside figure Earl the Bison. From there, the route continued into the Roosevelt Forest Road, a rugged and remote stretch ideal for those drawn to quiet landscapes and untouched nature.
Day 3: Tower Views and Stormy Skies
After finishing the Roosevelt Forest Road, the next stop was the Temagami Fire Tower, offering sweeping views of the surrounding wilderness. Later, the journey continued along Red Squirrel Road, reaching its gated end and passing several peaceful dispersed campsites. Dinner was wrapped up just in time before a dramatic thunderstorm swept through the area.
Day 4: Packing Up in Sunshine
The final morning brought clear skies and warm sun, perfect for drying gear and packing up without rush. The trip ended on a calm and satisfying note, with the last views of Lake Temagami leaving a lasting impression.
